PRIVACY

Your individual business profile is not a public listing.

Last updated August 20, 2026. This policy describes the information the current product stores and how access works.

What we store

Your account email and a salted one-way password hash. If you calculate a valuation, we store industry, revenue, normalized earnings, and your selected earnings metric (SDE or EBITDA) with your private account. When you materially update those inputs, we retain up to six earlier private input states so you can see what changed; they are never public and stay inside the same account. If you contribute to unlock additional benchmarks, we also store geography, employee count, growth, owner hours, recurring revenue, customer concentration, and a consent timestamp.

Closed-deal contributions

If you choose to contribute a completed US business sale, we store the closing month, broad industry, contributor role, reported sale price, trailing revenue, normalized SDE or EBITDA, transaction structure, inventory and working-capital treatment, seller financing, earnout, evidence type, consent version, and review status inside your private account. The form does not accept company, buyer, or seller names, addresses, URLs, exact closing dates, documents, or free-text deal narratives. We may use the account email only to request evidence or clarify the quality review; it is not a broker handoff or marketing consent.

How access works

An account unlocks your private valuation. An explicit operating-profile or closed-deal contribution can unlock protected comparable benchmarks. Contributed profiles and closed deals are marked self-reported and pending review; they do not automatically change another member’s estimate or any published aggregate.

Public transaction aggregates

Public transaction-index pages may show counts grouped by broad industry sector and reported deal-value band. A displayed sector-size cell contains at least 10 sanitized records. Smaller cells are withheld, and an additional cell may be suppressed when needed to prevent a hidden count from being recovered by subtraction from a public total. Individual rows, exact values, exact dates, names, source links, valuation multiples, and percentile ranges remain withheld.

Browser-only tools

The public value-driver diagnostic, SDE calculator, EBITDA multiple calculator, business-sale proceeds calculator, seller-financing calculator, and company-size benchmark explorer run in your browser. Their answers and worksheet amounts are not sent to our server. If you choose to carry SDE or EBITDA into your private valuation, that amount and its earnings definition are held temporarily in that browser tab so they can prefill the private form; both are removed after the valuation is saved, you sign out or delete the account, switch earnings definitions, or the browser-tab session ends.

Product analytics

We keep first-party aggregate counts for page views, industry and multiples-directory exploration, public-tool completion, public chart-image and dataset downloads, citation copies, report shares, embed-code copies, successful account creation, valuation completion, operating-profile and closed-deal contribution, withdrawal, sharing, and signed-in return visits. Public-tool events record only that a tool was viewed or completed—not search text, answers, clipboard contents, or amounts. During one browser-tab session, ordinary visits may be grouped into a broad acquisition channel such as direct, internal, Google, Reddit, ChatGPT, or other referral. For those visits, we do not store the referring URL, search query, campaign name, or referring company hostname, and the channel is not added to your account profile. When a public benchmark widget or market-map chart is embedded on another website, its load and referral counts may be grouped by that website's normalized hostname; we do not retain the embedding page path. Internal release checks can be labeled separately so they do not inflate the real funnel. An account may store the last calendar date it returned so repeat visits are counted at most once per day. Analytics events do not contain your email, financial inputs, IP address, or a cross-site visitor identifier. We do not load a third-party analytics tracker.

Transaction index

Our private transaction index stores sanitized market facts from approved public and internal research sources. Indexed records retain only a broad sector—not the source industry text—and exclude company and buyer names, websites, exact transaction values, exact financials, exact close dates, source URLs, and source-system identifiers. DealStats, BVR, Pratt's Stats, and BizComps provenance is prohibited. Members receive cohort aggregates only, never individual transaction rows.

What may be published

Only aggregated benchmarks that have passed quality review and contain enough similar businesses to avoid displaying an identifiable individual company should be published. The MVP does not yet publish contributed profiles in aggregates.

Your control

You can sign out at any time and withdraw a pending closed-deal submission from its private receipt. The “Delete account and private data” control removes the current account, saved valuation and valuation-history states, contributed profile, and closed-deal submissions from the active private store. Deletion is permanent. No current closed-deal submission is admitted automatically, so withdrawal removes it before any future aggregate use.

Important limitation

No name is requested, but combinations such as geography, exact financials and employee count can still identify a business. We therefore call submissions private—not anonymous.
